A forever playful founder

The Bauhaus philosophy; allow children to enjoy their creativity and imagination

Do you love it? Or not so much? The MasterShip logo has been an interesting topic for small talk. What we can agree on, is that it certainly stands out!
We found inspiration in a children’s building set made by Swiss brand Naev, an iconic design of Alma Buscher-Siedhoff, a student of the legendary Bauhaus art school.
Bauhaus art school was founded in 1919 as a reaction to the first world war. The aim was to explore form free from rigid constraints. A practical and simplistic style emerged, setting the aesthetic of the interbellum.
Buscher-Siedhoff designed the ‘shipbuilding game’ in 1923. It contains 22 geometric wooden parts. The shapes and colours represent Bauhaus philosophy perfectly, as it allows children to enjoy their creativity and imagination.
Forever playful, MasterShip founder Jacques Hoffmans enjoyed tinkering with the set. Shortly after founding our company in 1986, our logo took shape, and we have been sailing under the original design ever since.
