A quick word with Nick, our Marine Engineer & Designer stationed in Wuhan, China
We sat down for a brief convo with our marine engineer and designer Nick. โOne year ago I started working at the Wuhan office. It is located near to my home, which was one reason I had my eye on this job. The bigger reason is that I want to put my major to good use by contributing to the future of shipbuilding.โ
What excites you in shipbuilding? โFollowing the stricter emission requirements of the IMO, the shipping industry is moving to eco-friendlier vessels. We are seeing dual-fuel technology reach maturity, and the first hydrogen fuel cargo ships have been taken in operation. Fully electric ships, my personal favourite, are looking promising as batteries further improve.โ
Where do you see your personal career going? โMy motto is: study hard, work hard, let your youth shine. I look forward to accumulating experience designing a variety of ships, and by doing so, mastering as many tools as I can. I think our joint challenge is to keep improving communication between our offices. We cannot change the time zones, but we can keep chipping away at the language barrier.โ
