The Nesting Module has proved its worth over decades, and has had an immeasurable impact on our time schedules, the cost of shipbuilding, and the use of raw materials.
In brief, here’s how it works. A ship is built out of many uniquely shaped steel parts. These parts are cut out of big steel plates. The challenge is to use these plates in the most efficient way.
Fitting all those different shapes together is quite a puzzle. The Nesting Module lays the puzzle for us. It analyses all parts, and calculates the optimal solution.
The software works autonomously, but we do enjoy watching the magic unfold when we have a minute to spare!
