Guest lecturer for Wuhan University of Technology

Focus on Green Ship Technology

Through our China office we have a long standing relationship with Wuhan University of Technology (WHUT). Currently our innovation project manager Tufail Shahzad is contributing as a guest lecturer at their Yacht & Cruises Research & Design Institute, focusing  on Green Ship Technology.

Green ship technology encompasses many aspects. Tufail prepared a six week course for master students focusing on the Ship design perspective.

How can we create lighter ships to enhance shipping speed and efficiency? Along with our Wuhan team, Tufail has created a digital ship model and tasked the future ship engineers with identifying methods to optimise weight using the TOM module.

MasterShip’s Template Oriented Modeling (TOM) is suited for this quest, as it allows engineers to automatically multiply changes throughout the ship design. Students can quickly observe the effect of a change, and experiment with many different options in a small time frame.

Calling in from our head office in Eindhoven, Tufail is checking in to share his experience with the students. Gang and Petter, employees from our Wuhan office, are providing additional guidance on-site.

We are looking forward to seeing the ideas that the bright young minds from Wuhan University of Technology (WHUT) will come up with!

Stay tuned…
